Marian was the Chief Librarian in Westmeath County Council for over 20 years.  Rex Beaumount first introduced her to the Howard-Bury diaries and the wealth of documents and photo’s that needed sorting and cataloguing.  It was through her efforts that this material was preserved, becoming the Charles Howard-Bury Collection.

Although known internationally through her Howard-Bury publications, Marian’s research interests extend to many areas.  She has written numerous books and articles on Irish literary celebrities as well as on Howard-Bury, his life, travels and career.

Marian has also contributed greatly to Belvedere, having donated a large collection of research and memorabilia in relation to Charles Howard-Bury and Rex B Beaumount in 2024.  She has frequently written about Belvedere, contributing to various guide books and leaflets over the years, and has always been available to consult with the Belvedere team when requested of her.
